Simply enter the web address you want to register into the search box. If the name you entered has already been registered, we’ll list any available alternatives. If the domain is available, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration process.

Typically, there is a limit to a domain length, with the minimum being 1 character and the maximum being 63 characters. Ideally, you want your domain name to accurately reflect your brand, whether it’s personal or business-oriented. We provide some guidelines for picking out a great domain.

  1. To check if a domain name is available, just type it in GoDaddy’s search bar and we’ll tell you immediately if someone else already owns it.
  2. If it’s taken, you can search for your domain name using our WHOIS Lookup.

Search engines, like Google, consider all domains as equal, meaning that just because you have a .com, you won’t necessarily feature higher in the rankings.

If you can, it’s a good idea to register different domain extensions, such as .com.net, and .org along with your chosen TLD. This way, you can redirect your visitors back to your main website, preventing your visitors from visiting the wrong website.

You can choose from 1 to 63 characters for your domain name, but remember, the shorter it is, the more memorable it will be.
